I like funk and rock myself, but I don't always play that. The CD I'm in is a double album with a bunch of musicians, and I wound up with a gospel choir for half of it and mostly worship music for the rest. It's still okay, but didn't really challenge me :) The other CD has pretty much the rest of my band (Fusion) except for me; but that's what happens when you have to pick and choose your musicians. Our band leader wanted a phenomenal guitarist, and that guitarist will only play with one bass player, that being his son. So I got the boot :( It was still an awesome night, and he did a pretty good job with my bass lines :P It's really frustrating to hear someone play your music though, I've noticed. You'll write something and get a really good thing going, then someone else will pick it up and totally change it. That's art, I suppose; I'm still getting used to that.

Actually, it looks like someone recorded a clip and put it on the web; gotta love technology.  The timing's a bit off, but you can hear the gist of it.

oh wow i love that song! im part of the Christian Outreach Center church movement (began in australia so you mightnt have even heard of it, but its similar to others. apparently the thing that sets us appart is the alter call) and instread of hymns we sing modern christian rock and dance around and stuff. mostly planetshakers and hillsong songs but some american stuff. hard to explane to anyone whos used to the catholic idea of church. but judging but that youll have an idea of what i mean :p its very similar to that show there.

that first song with lyrics, that was a hillsong united cover wasnt it? i only know it as hillsong at least. they have good taste :P

so wait is that your band or did you just get put with them to play? if thats your band thats totally awesome :)

That's my band, I've been with them from square one, but we swapped musicians for the recording with another band that I'm in, and I wound up not playing with them :( The guy singing is a great man of God; actually, his sister Jill went to the Hillsong school for a couple years, but I can't remember what she studied. My favorite track is the opener from Hillsong London, Lord of All, but then, I like anything with a fun bass line :) I haven't heard of your church, but I'll keep my ears open; glad to hear someone else in a place like this is shining the light! Our church sounds a lot like yours; actually, we play that sort of music all the time at our Saturday church, and the Sundays are a little more laid back. I have the honor of working with both services, so I get to play all sorts of music.

Always beleived that the best music is associated with Satan, but their's no Heaven without a Hell ai.
I've heard of Hillsong thou, apparently their was controversy with that Church over here in Australia. But I don't want to go deep into they bleeding eye fest (since it was aired on a current affairs program *gags*)
Can't wait to get good enough to actually do some band work. So mad props there Zane.

lol yea, i dont know how much i respect hillsong as the people anymore. apparently theyve been messing about with the money that was supposed to help people, etc. which dosent suprise me to be honest. i dont feel quite so bad downloading them now heh. but it dosent take away from the power of their songs. i dont know if i know lord of all, but i know alot of others. planetshakers is definitly my favourite though. i went to the planetshakers confrence for the first time just last month actually. most amazing thing ever! reggie dabbs and chris hill were there as well. anyways, off topic lol (was there a topic? :P). im on the youth music team but i dont do the main services on sundays unfortunaly. i hope to be able to one day.

saturday services? we have friday night services some weeks for the youth group at our church (which is actually a much larger group than youd expect from our little country church, we have a very active youth outreach) which are always very loud lol. and our sundays are softer now because the old people kept complaining, but their still loud by most church standards hehe. its also a very laid back atmosphere. we have fun and enjoy being in Gods presence. our churches do sound similar. heres the wiki link to some info about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Outreach_Center

anyway, this really is a strange place to meet another dedicated christian. i hardly expected to heh. but i guess it shows that not all christians shun the rest of the world. i think you need to be in the world to help show God to others though your actions. just not OF the world. theres a differance :)

do you use msn or anything?

now to comment on the other posts :P lol

i agree alot of good music, i wouldnt say the best but alot of good music is wrongfully associated with satan. i do associate some music with him yes, but black sabbath for example, if you really listen to their songs they arent satanic at all and even say so. unfortunatly the older generation in the church will shun anything that seems too out there. and that does actually happen to christian bands as well :) theres one in particular, cant remember his name, but hes like a heavy metal punk screamo guy heh. the oldies dont really like him :P. and these days you would be suprised how many 'goths' are actually christians, very strong in their faith too. half my youth group is made up of goths and emos lol. but the adults shun them as well, because they decided anyone associated with black is satanic. thats something i dont agree with and that anoys me about the church, theyre judging people and i hate that that happens. so just dont think we all beleive that ok Mr Suburbia? :P

and to ctryfan, im thinking the chance is 0

wow this ended up longer than expected. so much for clipping last nights video before i left this morning.. hehe

It's easier to explain it this way: we have two churches operating in the same building.  We have AHOP, that meets Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings, and I play for the Sunday service.  But then at some point, we created a young adult singles group and we got so many people involved (there are tons of colleges around here) that we decided to start a church.  That church is called Fusion, and we meet at the same building on Saturday night.  The management wants to move to a different building, but I like having the nice sound system and lights :)  I just love music, and I worship through it, so to be able to play modern music and really worship with it, and be right there on the stage, that's the life for me.  I love life!  By the way, I'm on msn, zanemcfate@hotmail.com   I'm not always online, but now that I got my computer fixed, I'll be around more often, I hope :P

That's awesome to hear that you have a strong youth ministry, that's so hard to do.  We have a small one going, and we're trying to keep people involved, it's so important to stay in touch with people of all ages to really understand the direction the world is moving in.

oh i see. well that sounds great. and i totally know what you mean about loving music and worshipping through it. i mightnt go on stage alot but i seem to be one of the more active people when it comes to praise and worship and i just love to sing and listen to the music. i love music in general alot but theres a power about it when its in worship. I think you can worship God through anything you do to help out at church though, and i do my own things there.

i wish i had the sort of i love life attitude you seem to :P lol. but thats a great thing to be able to get out there and be on the stage praising every week. it would really lift up your moods no matter whats happening. its too easy for me to run and hide when im in the crowd on the floor :P

we're really lucky with our youth ministry. we get the usual kids who just turn up, but we also have a lot of really dedicated members. just 5 or 6 years ago Ignited Youth (what we call ourselves) consisted of 6 kids between the ages of 14 and 18 lol. now those 6 kids plus a few more are the leaders and we are actually biulding an extention to the church specially for the youth (i think the pastor is sick of balloon plastic and shaving cream in the main audotorium ;) ). only a few years ago when i joined the youth there was maybe 15 or 20 of us who met during church once a month, we didnt even have our own meetings. and now we meet 3 times a fortnight outside of church and weve grown to a steady 50 or 60 kids, with more who come on special nights or to confrences with us. it makes me wonder what God will do given 5 more years.

anyways ive added you on msn, and ill be around all afternoon my time now so maybe youll show up

Wow, some people said some pretty nasty things about me here.

That's okay. I can live with that. Can we bring this subject back to me. There's idle chit-chat in my hate thread.

By the way, why on Earth would I make up going to Thailand? Really, I'm not that bored, babies!

Way to be seven months behind the loop hon. Hell is not knowing how to make love to a girl, wow, that would suck! Wouldn't pick that from a hat of negative qualities, for sure. I got lucky on that front ;)
