Yes, it sounds like a good idea to get coverage in Sylk Magazine and from that - potentially -
a lot of new listeners.

However, two things that instantly trigger my gag reflexes is blatant commercialism (Flesh Light/Boy Butter banners and so on) and the highly original concept of using nude or semi-nude girls to sell your stuff - and after browsing through the Sylk website, that's basically what you get. Yeah, there's articles too, but there's better and more interesting ones out there WITHOUT the super-sleek, airbrushed pics of girls everywhere and banners popping up.

There's already more than enough spank material on the intarweb, but I really don't need Damon or Paul to send me to those sites. I was quite happy to throw NHB some money a couple of times a year - but I won't buy subscriptions to online magazines - not even if NHB wants me to.

Johan,

No one TOLD you to SUBSCRIBE to Sylk!  We did not demand it.  I think I stated last night that IF you liked the magazine to subscribe to support them.  If you don’t like, then don’t go.  If you actually read their articles I think they write about what we talk about on all our shows on the network.  Yes they use sex to attract readers, we use adult content to attract and keep listeners.  Sex sells!

I am glad you are a fan and you have donated and your opinion is welcome and appreciated.  Just realize for anything to grow you need to make contacts in many different venues and if you stay narrow minded to the small picture you will never get the big picture.  You will not like everything we do and try, but realize we will be trying new things with other companies to make the station grow in popularity.

Johan, that is certainly your choice. All we are trying to do is increase NHB's presence on the web to bring in more listeners. IN the end, that is what this is all about.

Do what I did. Get the free subscription, and enjoy the articles.

To The Milkman & Damon:
Just to clarify... I KNOW you didn't tell me (and the other listeners) to subscribe - but you sure made a point of telling us each and every time some knucklehead did sign up. If those who signed up did it because they liked what they see over at sylkmagazine.com, then that's fine by me.

On the other hand, if people signed up just because they felt they'd get props from you guys for signing up, then that's a bad thing.

I'm all for growth, and I definately hope that NHB will reach thousands or even millions of listeners. I'm just a little scared of what will happen when you get there. Tits and asses all over the NHB website? Subscription fees for high quality streams? Dildo banners? Or even worse, Damon and you being forced to mention some product every 5 minutes...

To ReverendStrife:
I read through the stuff on the site that you can get to without a free subscription, and I must admit, there's some good stuff there.

I guess I'm just not overly excited about handing out my e-mail address to any site with fleshlight and Google ads all over the place.

Damon has already said NHB is staying where it is. I think its safe to assume that the statement includes the free streaming which NHB provides. The partnership between NHB and Sylk is more of a PR move than a marketing move. NHB will get views, and potentially get new listeners from the partnership. Sylk gets publicity via internet radio from the partnership. The only reason to even get a subscription to Sylk if you dont plan on buying one, is to mention NHB. The more people NHB pulls in as signed up members, the better the relationship between NHB and Sylk becomes. If you dont like flesh lite adds, disable the pictures for the page. If you dont like stuff emailed to you, thats what junk filters are for.

I'm going to throw my opinion out there, knowing full well that Paul is going to comment, but i really don't give a shit.

A while back, you guys gave another show shit for having a caller have sex on the air. Yet, at one time, NHB had a girl rub one out on the air. After giving another show shit, you took the stance that you didn't need sex to promote the show...yet a few weeks later you were looking for models for the show, and you had Moxie as a guest...an obvious "sex sells" concept.

you guys do what you gotta do, and i agree that you need to expose yourself to other areas of the net to try and grow, but Johan makes a good point to which I ask ask the question: Is the stance "sex sells, as long as it's selling NHB", because it sure seems that way from a third party.

The floodgates are opened, so go ahead and use the line "You left, so what do you care?" like you've done in the past. Just because I chose to leave the network doesn't mean I don't still want to see it succeed. (BTW - What did you decide to do with the shirts after I ended the auction early and dropped them off for you guys?)

I will not sell NHB out for money or more listeners. And I don't want to go down the road of having to put nude women on the site to attract listeners. That's just as bad, to me, as using stand up comedy to draw in listeners to your original shows. We're going to do it the way we've always done it, as far as I am concerned.

But Damon, did you not essentially do that by having Moxie as a guest? By asking for female models for the show? Hell, even when you had the MySpace twats on...because they were "hot". In essence, you did sell out. When I was on the show, we may have had female guests (i.e., the Truth or Dare show), but that was a rare occasion, and they were all girls that we knew.

Just my opinion, of course, but it seems that you're heading down the wrong road if you're trying to stay "true to yourself".

Ah, Mike. You are comparing apples to oranges in regards to our favorite anti-nhb show that uses sex as its only content and us who have a woman on who is hot and actually also has brains. I thought Moxie was a great guest and couldn't see if she was hot or not. That is Paul's market, anyway. I personally could care less anymore if we have hot girls on or not. I can't have them, regardless, so who cares?

As for the t-shirts, I don't remember what we did with them. I don't even remember what I did yesterday. Been logging too many hours on a keyboard for Saturday's gig and talking to a girl on the phone, although the latter is probably going to blow up in my face like all the others do.

I didn't bring any of them on, Paul did. So, don't look at me. I never turn away guests.

I've just learned to shrug off Paul's PR as "not my style".  It doesn't make it wrong for him to try to get models on the show, to pull in alliances with other networks, that's his thing, and he seems to do it well.  Me, I could care less that someone who happens to look good is on a radio show where wit and humor are the driving factors.  Sex sells maybe, but not to me.  It's the same logic that drives Damon to avoid tech topics, because he doesn't want the geeks to overrun his show.  I avoid the "sex sells" concept, because I don't want to be overrun with sexually frustrated men.  That said, they can do what they want, I don't have to listen.

The fact you still have nothing positive to say just holds to your true colors and bitterness.  You can mold and warp anything we do for good or bad.
You are not even worth these words and it is my last statement to you.  The fact you cling onto this station like a dingleberry on my ass just proves how sad you are.

Hurricane Paul strikes again. If you had read my entire post, you'd have noticed that I agreed with your actions to get exposure, but was merely questioning your choices and stance on the subject of "sex sells" because it appeared to be a conflicted one. I also clearly stated that I want to see NHB succeed and grow, but you didn't get that part did you?
