The more I listen NHB radio, the more I'd like to start my very own station on this network. What maybe be the cost of Equipment, and other things to start a station. O and what equipment would I need? |

hahaha, good luck. they won't let anyone on here, it's more a matter of funny, than money. for just starting, your looking at a 10(or more) channel mixer, a few good mics, equal number of headphones(monitors), maybe even a headphone preamp. also, a reliable computer with plenty of bandwidth. you could probably pick up a 12 channel, 2 bus mixer, 4 headphones, 3 mics, and headphone preamp for about $500. thats to start a show, for a station, you'd need a dedicated server box/thing, ect... oh, and friends. |

OMGWTFBBQROFLCOPTER!!!!! I love it when this question comes up. It is further proof that opinions are like assholes - everyone has them, and 99% of them stink like shit. |

well that was my idea of a rough cost, he could just spend 12 dollars on a passive microphone and plug that into his computer. or find a broadcasting major, borrow his crap and do the show from his parents garage. |

| just a thought but you might want to try getting a SHOW on the network, before you host a station. |

Ok, bare minimum to do a show: - Chances are you've got a computer if you're posting here. You'll want a 2nd sound card to run effects off of. Figure $40 bucks. Doesn't have to be too fancy. - you can probably get a mixer to start with off eBay for $50. You want something with at least 2 mic inputs. Doesn't have to be fancy, and if it's got 2 mic inputs, you will have at least one stereo input as well. So we're up to $90. - Microphones are personal preference, but I found one of the best mics I ever used was a Peavey that i got for $40 complete with XLR cable. $130 so far. - forget the headphone amp unless you're going to have multiple hosts or guests. Even then, you can get by with el cheapo amplified splitter for $30 from Radio Shack. Headphones can be whatever you listen to your mp3 player with. You'll need a mic stand too, so figure another $20. That's the BARE minumum, and under $200. Damon's got a lot of stuff, but he built it up over the years and uses it for more than just the show. In fact, if he only did a show, his shit would be way overkill. |

| Phoenix, you're showing your age. If you were around longer, you'd get it. |

im assuming you mean a show, not a station. this is a station with multiple shows, if you mean a show, your first step is to get a mic, and a good fast internet connection, then ask damon about getting a show. from there the staff will help you work out what you need, but basically youll need at least one computer, preferably two, a basic mixer, a headset for you and cohosts, and a reliable fast internet connection. but more importantly, you need funny |
