This will take you through the process of making a new character in HellMoo and also how to run the game from a downloaded client (Rather than via browser or telnet).
Before I go any further, I'm from the Uk (Scottish/English) so I may spell things differently from Americans but I'm sure you'll be able to understand all the same.
Also, I have no idea how blind friendly this client will be, you're best to talk to Liam or one of the other blind staff members about that.
First of all, as I said I'm going to use a MUD Client so, my current Client is WinTin++ (this is the one we'll be using). So, go grab WinTin++ from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=137339 . Theres Linux, OS X and Windows versions there so pick your poison.
When it's downloaded, run it and let it install. When it done double click the desktop Icon or go to it through Start -> Programs -> WintTin++ --> "WinTin++". Now, it should load up and give you a screen like this

With this screen up you need to tell the client to connect to the HellMoo Servers, the infomation can be found at their site on the connect page

Address: hell.game-host.org
Port: 7777
So for WinTin++ you need to type #session (SessionName) (Address) (Port) [Enter]
Session name is whatever you want to call it, personally I just call it HellMoo, Address and Port are just taken from above.
So you need to type (Without brackets) "#session HellMoo hell.game-host.org 7777".
You'll get the "You must be 18 or over" (like anyone here would bother reading that anyway) and get asked to either "request" (Read "Create") a character, or connect (Read "Login").
If you're making a character use "request >playername> for <email address>", if you're connecting "connect <playername> <password>".
Go check your email for it, make sure to check your spam box incase it got sent there. You should end up with an email like this:

(Yes I know you can see the email address, user and pass, it's a test account for you to see the full log in commands. And I'll run it through the start campaign to show you what you need to do.)
User: Test101
Pass: QAPoP
When you registered you'll got disconnected from the server, so reconnect (#session HellMoo hell.game-host.org 7777), then Login to your new character (connect Test101 QAPoP), the password is case sensitive, which is why I left in the account details so you can try to log in to it yourself without typing the upper and lower case correctly.
Now onto the game. Theres a list of useful commands at http://hell.game-host.org in the Guide there (Though their guide lacks the more detailed help here).
[NOTE] If, like me, you have the G15 Keyboard from Logitech (The one with 18 "G-Keys" to the left of it, great time to get to use them, You are not allowed to Bot the game (IE have the keyboard/program play for you) but you ARE allowed to use macros (IE 1 key press that does multiple presses for you). Personally I have 6 Keys in use, Up, Down, North, South, East and West, My Up and Down type in the appropriate command and enter key, the north south east and west ones however do not, as you sometimes get NorthWest, NorthEast, SouthEast, SouthWest directions.
With that said, lets get onto the game, as you no doubt know the game is entirely text based (Though the map his made out of Characters). so when you log in, this is where you start (use "gmap" command to produce maps like this in the game:

Your position is represented by the "()" box in blue. The Black background with 2 Lines "||"is a road, the Red Box with "PL" is the Public Libary, where you can go into, there is another building on the map "AJ", the Green boxes with "^" appear to be trees. You get used to knowing where you can and cannot move over time, not to mention when you enter areas you get lines like " [ Exits: East, West ]".

Personally I did not read this when I created my character, and I am still happy with how my character turned out.
So after you've done all that is talked about in the guide above you will end up in Freedom City, you have $300, I suggest heading to "Am" then "Th", getting yourself a simple weapon and some clothes to make you a bit tougher (well you are bollock naked at the moment).
Head over to the Orphanage when you get a chance "<=" and start killing rabid orphans (or just kill them all, whichever you preffer).
For each Rabid Orphan you kill you get $50 from Sister Agnes upstairs (Go into the Orphanage, Up, West, to reach her room). The command that you need to get payed (which took me nearly a day or trying to find out) is "-sister pay" when you're in her room, this "talks" to her and says "pay" which sounds simple enough, but the guide on the site lies about what the command is.
Keep doing that, hang about the furnace room for a few minutes (you'll see why), theres a starting weapon to be found if you make it past some cultists.

Your talking about using a telnet client as opposed to an actual seperate client.
Speaking of client, I change my recommendation for client to one called "MudMagic". WinTin++ had the edit lin (The ine where you type your commands) and the game text merged so as you typed if a new line came up it'd screw you completely, MudMagic, while not being perfect (I can spot a few things that need to be changed for it to be better) but it is DEFINATELY a step up, a giant one at that. |

two things i want to add to this, first if you're new you can also type -sister heal and agnes will heal you for free. also if you want to
play with other NHB people there are two corps owned by NHB people, tmp owned by liam and HATE owned by me. |

for some reason when i use java, i'm in an area with nhb people.
but when i'm on PuTTY, i'm in a completely diferent area, with noobs.

i'd like to solve the mystery, you log out in the orphanage and since alot of NHB people are newbs they are also in the orphanage.

allow (sex,gifts,medical,rape,i think there was something else type allow to see the list) from person, or from all

also if you have i believe it was $7000 and want to start your own corp go to CH and buy a business license
then type "sign license".
if you're in a corp type "c then your message" for it to go into corpchat, type "corp" to look at all the members of your corp, the pay rate, ext
type "corp contracts" to see how much is left of a specific contract
type page playername to page someone,
type "who" to see who's online "cwho" to see who in a corp is online, and "awho" to see what admins are online.
if you have an object you want to throw the command is "throw object through direction"
kill name
gmap (makes the minimap bigger so you can see where everything is if you're lost)
for doors, open #, close out, if inside "lock out" if outside "lock #"
Exam object,person,thing,place
look, direction
diagnose player
"TAC" gives you the stats of everyone in a room
"fight" lets you pick your fighting style
thats all i can think of for now but one more thing guys, this game has under a hundred players so you don't need to name yourself newbie134293842093849239084092384092380498230948 frankly its just annoying to other players. |
