Attention all listeners of the nhb radio network... The current project for the spring and summer here in the nhb studio is to archive all nhb shows, from 1993 to present in mp3 format and burn them to dVD. Tapes tend to stretch and die, and minidiscs can get lost. I am currently logging all shows direct to disk as they broadcast, so I have all the shows from Fall 2003 through now archived already. I have earlier shows mostly done from 2003, but may have to reencode shows, since the stream rips I received have skips in them. Some of these shows will be used for rebroadcast. For instance, I am currently recording September 18, 2001, which happens to be the first appearance of one sTeve St. Peter. I need the following from you, both the long term listeners and the newvies. 1. If anybody has any shows from late 2003, namely the shows where I broadcasted from Goldfingas house, I need them. My minidisc copies have sthe end of one of the shows missing. 2. If you have any other shows in good quality, i.e. no buffering or skipping, in mp3 format or mp3 pro format in high quality, please let me know. If I don't have to record a show, it will save me a few hours. 3. For the sake of new listeners, I may decide to run an old show during an evening when nobody is on. Any suggestions as to what shows from our past you want to hear? These shows will eventually be made available to the public in DVD box sets. Think of having a season of NHB on a couple DVD's. Eventually, all 7 years and beyond will be available in our store. Is this something you would buy? It would break down something like this. Set 1: the college years, 1993-1997 Set 2...the beginnings of the internet, 1999-2000 Set 3...2001 Set 4...2002 Set 5...2003 Set 6...2004 Set 7...2005 And of course as each year ends, we'd make that available as well. I may do it a slightly different way. Each set would probably cost about $50, but think of what you're getting...a year's worth of shows, recorded direct from the cassette or minidisc masters. This means, when the stream dropped out, you can hear what nobody else has heard, namely the cursing and troubleshooting. IN high qualtiy 128K mp3 or in 56K mp3 pro, depending on how they were ripped. Every second, without skipping or buffering. The early shows were broadcast in 24K mono, but you can hear them in 128K stereo quality. How does sound to you?
