Just an idea that popped into my sick little mind. For all those guitarists out there writing their songs, but arent sure their Bassline or riff *whatever* is up to scratch, could maybe post the tab here and get it judged or be given hints to improve it. Not sure how the idea sounds, if it sucks just delete this post.

If any rules apply is should be:
. 4 to 8 bars only
. Clearly state the timing, etc. So we can test it out ourselves.
. And dont motherfucking steal ideas.

Make it more along the lines of rate my composition and it might work.

A riff can sound like crap on its own, but in the context of the composition it was written for it can be completely different.

Besides, the only thing that should matter is whether you like the stuff you write. There is too many assholes around here who piss on ideas whether they like them or not.

does it have to be tabbed? most of us probably have sound programs(pro tools, sound forge, ext) are audio files legal too? maybe i'm just lazy, but tabbing with proper timing sounds like alot of work.

Tab? FUCK NO. I'm talking audio production man. Finished product, your best effort etc. Audio software is not hard to get a hold of these days. If you want to be legal and stuff like that you could start with audacity, it's pretty low spec and free, does the job for some quick and dirty audio capture. If you want to go high end multitracking etc you can't go wrong with Sonar (just make sure your PC has a respectable spec or you will have issues with Dropouts etc).

Yeah, I was just throwing this idea up in the forum to see how it would go. I would admit alot of ideas would get pissed on, because of the differnt tastes of music and stuff. I only picked tab because anyone can read it, but the more detail the better. I really like the idea of the whole, finished product. As i said the more detailed the better.

I only made the rules as a base, and any changes are welcome.
I just picked the name Rate My Riff because it was catchy.

well this forum is looking pretty dead so i'll stick one in here.
i've been playing with the idea of fusing guitar players most overused tricks.
i'm currently combining tapping(alla van halen),power chords and a delay pedal.
i'm still writing whatever instrumental i'm going to do with this but if you lookyou might
be able to find something in my rambling worth playing with, also i know theres a couple
one string taps in there,sorry.

if you choose to rate anything, please rate the concept not how together the riffs are
i know they don't blend well, i'm still figuring out where i want to go with it(and trying to get my fingers flexible to do double tapping power chords)
